Reflexology – Waewae Kōmiri

The Amazing Benefits of Reflexology

Do you have stress?  Anxiety, digestive problems, hormonal imbalance, pain, niggling symptoms that just won’t go away?

Reflexology  is a holistic healing technique that treats the whole person,  and brings the body to balance, harmony and homeostasis.  The aim of a reflexology treatment is to stimulate the bodies natural healing abilities

Reflexology is amazingly beneficial for so many physical, mental and emotional issues.

It works by stimulating  precise reflex points in your feet that correspond to all the organs, glands, bones & muscles in the body.  It clears energetic blockages within the physical body, and and is super effective for bringing relief from stress and anxiety.

Stress and tension are known to be the biggest cause of dis-ease in the body.  A body/mind under stress has less resilience and resistance.  When you relieve tension in the body, healing can begin.

Reflexology can help to

  • Relieve stress and tension

  • Relieve pain

  • Improve nerve and blood supply function

  • Balance the whole system – bring the body to homeostasis

  • Revitalise energy

  • Address digestive imbalances

  • Preventative health care – make it part of your health care routine.

What happens at a treatment session.

At a treatment session, you will  get just that, a total treat for body, mind, spirit, and of course your feet.   Either lying on a massage table, or semi-reclined in one of our comfy zero gravity chairs, you remain fully clothed, the only thing bare is your gorgeous feet.  Before the session starts we will discuss your health and you can let me know if there are specific areas you would like worked on more deeply, or if you are here for pure relaxation.  I use a combination of powders, oils and balms on your feet during the session, and all you have to do is close your eyes and let go.  Our feet love the attention they get during reflexology, and they and you will leave feeling refreshed, energised and completely, deliciously relaxed.

A little bit of history

Reflexology is an ancient system of healing used by many early cultures.  The earliest discovery that show just how old working with the feet for good health is,  is in Egypt.   Pictographs dated circa 2330-2350BC depict a scene of a physician working on a patients feet.
Research into the physiological reflex action began in the late 1890’s by German physicians and was further developed in the 1900’s by Dr William Fitzgerald and known as Zone Therapy.
Reflexology as we we practice it now, was developed even further during the mid 19th century by a pioneering physiotherapist, Eunice Ingham.   Known as ‘the mother of modern reflexology’  It was Eunice who mapped out the individual reflex points for all the organs, glands and parts of the body on the feet.

“I came away feeling very relaxed and would recommend Jo to anybody wishing to have a treatment.”

“Since my treatments with Jo, my shoulders are pain free, and also pins and needles free.  My digestive system is much improved and everything is working more efficiently!  Love it.”

I love how energising reflexology is.  It is nice to drop into a deep space of relaxation where healing can take place.”

“A lovely experience, one hour of bliss.”

Create harmony in the body and the body will heal itself”  – Mike Kelly
